What we found
Between June and September, parents, SBMC members and GIRLsLEAD fellows visited schools across Ibadan North and recorded what they saw using Traza+. Each report was geo-tagged and checked against the indicator framework before it was counted.
Of eleven schools monitored, only two had a ramp or level path into classrooms, and none had an accessible toilet. Parents told reporters that children who use wheelchairs simply stay at home.
"A ramp costs less than a classroom door. Without it, the door may as well be locked."Inclusive Ed Network, CSO
What we are asking for
- 1Retrofit ramps at the nine schools without one.
- 2Include accessibility in every new classroom contract.
