What we found

Between June and September, parents, SBMC members and GIRLsLEAD fellows visited schools across Saki West and recorded what they saw using Traza+. Each report was geo-tagged and checked against the indicator framework before it was counted.

Two girls’ secondary schools had no female science teacher at all. Fellows presented the reports at a town hall attended by the LGA education secretary, SBMC chairs and parents. Within six weeks, four female science teachers were posted to the two schools, and the money budgeted for teacher deployment was released in full.

What we are asking for

  1. 1Keep the four teachers in post for at least three years.
  2. 2Add a female guidance counsellor to each school.
